
FAE Goals
The Foundation for Academic Endeavors (FAE) creates opportunities for academic growth for low-income families with an emphasis on building leadership and community partnerships. The FAE Summer Academy is held in Mount Vernon Washington. The program serves 200 preschool through high school students providing summer literacy, enrichment and STEM instruction in a creative and collaborative manner. FAE hires experienced teachers and college fellows to assist each teacher
We are looking for dynamic college student fellows studying education, science, technology, engineering or math with a heart to serve a diverse community of learners and their families. For more information on FAE go to www.skagitfae.org
Program Dates:
July 5, 2021 - August 5, 2021
Mon, Thurs 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Tues, Wed 7:30 am to 3:00 pm
(Student Day 8:00am – 2:00pm)
Zoom Curriculum and Planning Dates:
20 hours of training in June 2021 (Because most teachers are still teaching in June, our meetings will be in the evenings at mutually agreeable times)
Interviews via Zoom:
April 19 - 21, April 27, 28 3:00pm - 7:00pm
Responsibilities and Duties

Reports to the Program Directors of Foundation for Academic Endeavors (FAE)

Design and implement physical education activities in consideration of COVID protocols
-
Supervise morning and after-school transitions with Art Teacher, Nurse and Counselor

Build community and leadership skills of students
-
Supervise volunteers and college fellows when they’re assisting at PE
-
Build classroom community and leadership skills of students

Attend daily staff meetings
-
Attend child abuse awareness and prevention education, (certificates are valid for 3 years)

Submit to criminal background check
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent credit hours
-
Teaching Certificate (or completion of coursework & student teaching)
Preferred Qualification
-
Bilingual English-Spanish desired
-
Exhibit competency and experience working in a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender/sexuality, and ethnic backgrounds and identities.

Ability to use a personal computer, Microsoft Office products and database programs.

Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
Salary and Appointment
Job Type: Part-time, temporary
Salary: $2750 to $3250 depending on experience
